Long Lake Digital

Birchwood, Wisconsin

Modern websites for Northwest Wisconsin businesses, built by your neighbor.

I'm a local web designer in Birchwood — I build small businesses websites that show up where your customers are looking: on Google, when someone in your town searches "landscaper near me" or "hardware store Rice Lake." No long-distance agencies. No awkward video calls.

In-person meetings available within ~1 hour of Rice Lake.

Why work with a local

A web designer you can actually shake hands with.

Most rural businesses end up with one of two options: a generic template service that doesn't know the area, or an agency in the Cities billing big-city rates. There's a better third option.

Face-to-face when it matters

I'll meet you at your shop, town hall, or the diner down the road. The big agencies can't do that — and most of them don't really want to.

Calls that get returned

When something on your site needs fixing, you'll hear back the same day during business hours. No ticket queues, no offshore handoffs.

I live here too

I'm raising my family in the Northwoods. Helping local businesses means helping our families.

The specialty

Show up where your customers are looking.

Most of your future customers will Google before they call. If your business doesn't show up in the top three results, they never see you — they call whoever does.

A site Google can actually read

Fast, mobile-first, and structured so Google understands what you do and where you serve — the way people actually search.

Google Business Profile, done right

The map listing, hours, photos, and categories that let you show up in "near me" searches and the local three-pack.

Reviews and photos, kept fresh

The two things Google leans on most for local rankings. I make sure they're flowing in — no shortcuts, no fake anything.

Example: when someone in Rice Lake Googles “landscaper,” D&S Landscape is what they see.

Services & pricing

Honest pricing. Pick the partnership that fits.

Every business is different — these are starting points, and most projects get a custom quote after a quick conversation. What you won't get is "starts at $5,000" agency theater or surprise charges.

For non-technical owners

You don't need to know what a CMS is.

Most of the business owners I work with are great at their craft and not particularly interested in becoming web developers. Good — that's what I'm for. Here's how it actually goes:

  1. 01

    We talk

Coffee, phone call, or video — whatever you prefer. Tell me about your business, what you have now, and what you wish you had. No pitch deck.

  2. 02

    I build

I design and build your site, set up your Google Business Profile, and get analytics in place — so your customers find you when they search locally. You don't need to learn anything new.

  3. 03

    You approve

I'll show you the site before it goes live. Want to change the photos, the wording, the colors? Easy — that's why we do this part first.

  4. 04

    I maintain

Hours change. New employees join. Promotions come and go. Email or text me; I'll handle it. You go run your business.

About Long Lake Digital

Started in Birchwood. Built for the Northwoods.

I'm Carson. I started Long Lake Digital because there's a real gap up here: small businesses and town governments that know they need a stronger online presence.

My approach is simple. I show up. I do good work. I charge fair prices. And I stay around — because I'm not going anywhere either. My family lives here, I care about these towns, and the businesses I work with are the same ones I shop at.

If you've ever been frustrated trying to update your own website, or you've put off having one because the whole thing feels too technical — I'd love to take that off your plate.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to what most folks want to know before reaching out.

How do I show up when people Google my business?
Three things move the needle for a local business: (1) a Google Business Profile that's set up correctly and kept updated, (2) a fast, mobile-friendly website that clearly states what you do and where you serve, and (3) real reviews and current photos. Long Lake Digital handles all three the way Google actually rewards — no tricks, no keyword stuffing. Over 3–6 months you should see your business start showing up for the searches that matter in your town.
How much does a website cost in Northwest Wisconsin?
Website builds start at $2,000, with most small-business projects landing between $2,000 and $4,000 depending on scope. Monthly partnerships start at $200/month for basic care and go up to $1,000+/month for full marketing engagements that bundle local search visibility, ads management, and content. Municipal projects are quoted separately and typically start around $1,200/month.
Do you serve my town?
Long Lake Digital serves businesses and municipalities within about a two-hour drive of Rice Lake, WI — including Birchwood, Hayward, Spooner, Cumberland, Chetek, Barron, Cameron, and the surrounding towns. For places outside that range, we work remotely over phone, email, and video.
What's included in the monthly partnership tiers?
There are three tiers. Care ($200/mo) covers hosting, security, backups, up to two change requests per month, and same-business-day response. Care + Grow ($500/mo) adds Google Business Profile management, a monthly report on who's finding your business (search rankings and traffic, in plain English), and a quarterly strategy call. Full Engine ($1,000/mo) adds Google or Facebook ads management, unlimited reasonable change requests, monthly content additions, and a monthly strategy call. Each tier is a bundle — no à la carte add-ons to track.
Will I own my domain and website?
Yes. Carson registers the domain on your behalf and transfers ownership to you on request. The website itself is yours — there is no lock-in. After the first 12 months there is no transfer fee.
What if I'm not technical?
That's the whole point. You don't need to learn anything new. Email, call, or text Carson when something needs to change and he handles it. You stay focused on running your business.
How long does it take to build a website?
Most builds go live within 2–4 weeks of the first consultation, depending on how quickly we receive your content, photos, and feedback. Rush timelines are possible for an additional fee.
Do you offer Google Business Profile setup?
Yes. Setting up and optimizing your Google Business Profile is often the highest-leverage thing a local business can do online — so it's included in every website build. Ongoing management of your profile (responding to reviews, posting updates, keeping info fresh) is part of the Care + Grow and Full Engine monthly tiers.
Can we meet in person?
Yes — and that's preferred. Carson lives in Birchwood, WI and meets clients in person whenever they're within about two hours of Rice Lake. Coffee in Birchwood, Rice Lake, Hayward, Spooner, or your own town all work.
